Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world. Over one million tons of coffee is exported from Central America every year.
In Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras, coffee is the primary export and the lifeline for millions of families. Despite making an income through green coffee sales, millions are still suffering from hunger and disease.

That is over 35% living in poverty. It is estimated that 56.2% of the population of Guatemala is living in poverty. With a product so high in demand, why are coffee growers still impoverished?
